Wednesday April 29

A beautiful day today with that little bit of crispness to the morning air which makes living in the tropics a blessing afterall. It was goodbye to another couple of ladies off on holiday adventures. We have people off to places as varied as Agate Creek, Dubbo and the Chelsea Flower show! There should be some lovely embroidered work on show soon, as almost everyone seemed to be embroidering today, even Mary with her sequinned bear is just a very bling sort of embroidery.

And there was some variety in the show and tell this morning.

Flo crocheted the squares for this lovely rug but refused to sew it together. It has been Diana's hand work for quite a few weeks, but is finally finished. Flo thinks it is a bit of a hodge podge, but we all thought it looked fantastic.

Marlena has been making little bags again.
This little zippered patchwork elephant is just the cutest.

Michelle Mc made this modern-looking quilt for her Dad for Christmas and has just finished the binding. It will go straight to the caravan.

Marlena has worked on these embroidered old mansions for some time. Longer than she would like. When she was cutting them to fit in the attic window frame, she slipped and had to start one from scratch. But the result is a perfect wall hanging and a very fancy embroidered house label.

Topiary Tiles. Robyn Mc won the February bomb (block of the month bonanza)  blocks and found the perfect border fabric in a bargain bin on a recent trip to Townsville. A great looking scappy quilt. Well done to all the ladies who contributed blocks to this bomb which Robyn said were all a consistent size and easy to piece together.

Wednesday 22 April

It was another quiet morning today and the first morning we didn't have to turn fans on. Yippee! Cathy even brought a large quilt with some blue fish to blanket stitch. Keep a watch for this one to be finished. It certainly looks great in the early stages.
A couple of travellers returned today. Guess where Elizabeth and Joan have been? A calico tote bag that is a bit of a talking point.

And Anne goes to the top of the class for actually completing some little button flowers from Di's in-house demo last month.

The only quilt show and tell today was this beautiful small quilt of Faye's  with appliqued hexagons and embroidered floral motifs which has been exquisitely hand quilted by Lynn. We are predicting this will be the Mackay Show hand quilting winner.

Wednesday 15 April

Diana Henningsen made this attractive quilt called Tumbling Squares from Charm Squares. She actually made her own Charm Squares by cutting a Layer Cake  into four. The colours are not to Diana's taste and she has no idea why she bought the Layer Cake in the first place!

Jan Eggleton made this Maze Quilt from scraps of Aboriginal print fabrics. The back is made from larger pieces of some of these fabrics. Although she probably still has enough left overs for another similar quilt.
