34 ladies gathered at Church on Palmer today and enjoyed our Christmas break-up.  

Everyone enjoyed their meal.

                                       

Delma and Brenda were there to greet us and collect the "fabric swap" items and to hand out our Lucky Door numbers.

Liz and Cathy were also busy selling raffle tickets.

The 4 photos above show the ladies busily working on the games.  The photo above shows Barbara and Glenys  (at the very back) trying desperately to remember the answers as these were misplaced.

Julie was the winner of BOTH of the games. She had 15/15 for KNOW YOUR BISCUITS and 18/20 for CHRISTMAS WORD SCRAMBLE.  Well done Julie!

The 6 photos above show the lucky winners of the "Left and Right" Pass the Parcel game. As you can see Sue, Elaine, Anne, Jean, Cheryl and Carol were pleased that the story ended while they were holding the package

Deane was the winner of the Lucky Door prize.  Delma was a little concerned about the potted poinsettia as apparently the pot didn't have a seatbelt on and didn't do too well after the brakes had to be applied in a bit of a rush.

The photos above show the ladies holding up the fabric that they received.  I'm sure that they will all find a place for it in a project.

Diane was the winner of the raffle.  She was very lucky that she knew her ticket number as some-one else was about to get her hot little hands on it!!!

Cathy won second prize in the raffle.

Each of us received a gift - a big thank you to Delma who made them for us.  Remember that our Wednesday gatherings will still continue through the break but we will be meeting at the Women's Centre in Shakespeare Street. We start back at the Northern Beaches Community Hall in the first week of February 2019.

 I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year.

24 ladies braved the elements today and gathered for the last time this year in the Northern Beaches Community Hall.  You can see from the photos below that the tables were placed to take advantage of any breeze that may have found itself coming through the doors.

Next Wednesday we are meeting at 11.30 am at Church on Palmer to enjoy our Christmas Lunch Break-Up.  We will, once again, be having a fabric swap - a 30cm piece this year BUT if you have already purchased a fat quarter for this purpose, that will be fine.

You don't have to suffer withdrawal symptoms over the Christmas break as we will be meeting at the Women's Centre, Shakespeare Street (next door to Meals on Wheels) on a Wednesday morning from 12 December until the end of January 2019.  Remember that this venue is air-conditioned!!!  Saturday sewing (2nd and 4th Saturday of the month) will also continue at this venue.

Anne won the badge draw - at last!!!

Some of our ladies are still pumping out projects and it is always inspiring to see what can be achieved.

Marion made this quilt at the Eungella Retreat using her own design (now you know why we are inspired by what these ladies can achieve!)  It is to be a Christmas present for her daughter, Susan.

Rita has crocheted this rug for her friend who is undergoing Breast Cancer treatment.  She chose these colours because her friend loves green and yellow.

Cathy has named this quilt "Pohutukawa" which is a New Zealand Christmas bush.  Cathy has changed the flower colour, therefore giving it an Aussie Style.  She is keeping this quilt for herself.

Glenys has made this bag as a Christmas present for her sister who lives in New Zealand.  As you may have guessed by the fabric choice, her sister loves cats.

Gerri has made this Table Runner using fabric donated to our club by Patricia Manning.  Gerri has made this for her Mother-in-law

Cathy has made this quilt, using the X Factor pattern by Chris Timms, for her neighbour. It has been quilted by Di Hope using a geometric pattern based on squares.

We are certainly nearing summer - only 1 more week to suffer in the hot conditions for this year!

28 ladies did not let the heat put them off attending and I'm sure that we were all pleased that we did.

The heat is also not putting some of our ladies off completing their quilts, etc.  Air-conditioned sewing rooms certainly help.

Saturday sewing is on this Saturday and remember that it will continue over the break - every second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Diana won the Badge Draw again - that is twice is as many months!!

Liz made this hexagon quilt while she was on her cruise.

This quilt is made using Dinosaur themed fabric.  Both of Liz's quilts will be donated to the Women's Centre.

Kaye made this scrappy quilt using left over fabric from members of the Carlyle Crafters.  She took the scrappy look to the next level by adding an appliqued floral inset border.  Kaye intends to donate the finished quilt back to the Carlyle Crafters group.

Anne has made this Jelly Roll Race quilt titled, "Ahoy Me Hearties",  as a birthday gift for her sister.   The appliqued sea themed objects up the side certainly add that "extra something" to the quilt.  The quilting was done by Judy Easton.

Deane has made this quilt for her Great Grandchild due in mid-December.  The quilt is machine pieced with the applique all needle turned.

Marlena has embroidered these serviettes for her Christmas table.  3 done and only 3 more to go!

Marilyn has been busy making Christmas gifts for her three Granddaughters.  This is a Toy Bag featuring machine-embroidered Painted Ponies.  After the embroidery was complete, of course Marilyn had to then piece the bag together.

These are the Reading Pillows for the two older Granddaughters.  Marilyn has machine embroidered their favourite Disney characters on to the large, snuggly cushions.  All of this done with a moon boot on - well done, Marilyn.

Cathy has made this Christmas table runner using 5" squares left over from a 2016 project.  She still has many squares left over and will be thrilled to pass them on to anyone who would like them!!

Cathy has come up with this after being inspired by a table runner that was on display at the Bowen Quilter's Fair earlier this year.  I do believe that she was able to cut up some of the dreaded 5" squares.

Our President, Delma, thanked the members who have worked on making these bags.  They are filled with toiletries and will be distributed to homeless women through the "Share the Dignity" program.  Well done ladies.

It was Meeting Day today - but nearly Christmas so things were quiet.  We had a good number of ladies today with 30 turning up, the days are heating up though.  

Delma was pleased with all the bags that have been completed for the Homeless Women.  Saturday Sewing last week was well attended with 11 ladies who really had a busy time making lots more.

It has been decided that after our Christmas Lunch that instead of finishing for the year they will move the Wednesday gathering to the Womens Centre.  It is air conditioned and they are able to stay later in the day.  More hours of sewing!

The Bom was drawn and Anne W was lucky enough to have her name drawn out.  It looked lovely when we put the blocks on the floor.

Robyn Mc won the Badge Draw - again!

Cheryl won the monthly raffle.

Barbra reckons that in the 6th year, she finished her lovely Christmas Cushion,  It really is lovely  and bright with the Pom Poms around the edge.

Gerri has made this pretty Braided Table Runner  for her daughter in Brisbane.

Di opened up her cupboard, found lots of scraps and whizzed up these very pretty bags.  She will sell them.

Di also made these beautiful Fabric Journals- one of them for their upcoming trip to Tasmania, made from Doilies she found in an Op Shop.

Cathy found this pattern for a String Bag, was surprised at how small it turned out but plans to make another one that is larger.

We can see that this will make a striking quilt when finished.  Anne W was lucky enough to win the blocks, with still 3 more to come.
