Wednesday 18th June 2014

It was beautiful weather wise in Bucasia today and we had quite a number of ladies present and of course "Show and Tell"

Faye Cole showed off her beautiful "Strippit" quilt which was a block of the month kit.
The fabrics were quite different, with colours that Faye has not usually put together. Here is a closer look at the design and fabrics.

Lesley has made some cute little turtles whose tummy is made of a cleaning cloth for the tablet/Ipad screens.

And I have finally finished my "C U in Bali " quilt.

Our Biggest Morning Tea for Cancer

                                              Wednesday May 21st

This was our Biggest Morning Tea to raise money for cancer. The ladies were invited to wear rainbow colours in their clothing and to bring food with a yellow theme. With brightly coloured tablecloths on the tables we made a colourful sight. We raised almost $300 through donations and a raffle, and that will be given to a local cancer charity. Thanks everyone.

There were tea-related prizes for the best food, the most colourful lady, and for the teapots and cups and saucer sets amongst our display.

The YUMMY yellow food. Thanks to everyone who contributed and showed such imagination!

The winning cupcakes were made by Linda Inch.

The Winner of the teapot display was Iris Little with her well-used Billy. The competition was intense with an eclectic collection of colours and styles of teapots, but given the history of this one it was the stand-out winner. If it could just talk!!
Marlene won the cup and saucer competition for the same reason, having printed a description of the tea set her parents brought with them when they emigrated from Europe to Mackay.
And Karen Dutton had the most rainbow colours on her clothes, wearing a large draped chiffon scarf.

Entering into the spirit were these Rainbow Friends -  Margaret, Heather, Anne, Robyn, Barbro and Kathy. Jan wearing lilac had to leave early.

And now for some Show and Tell

This beautiful quilt with embroidered sayings was made by Karen Buckeridge. She used the zig-zag setting to embroider the letters and Chinese figures.

This lovely puppy-dog quilt was made by Nancy Foyle.

New Member Kathy McKenna made this striking table runner.

Joan Robinson made this pretty quilt with embroideries for a dear friend.
