Wednesday 19th February 2014

As can happen at this time of year a tropical downpour prevented a lot of our ladies from joining us this Wednesday, but those who did come found plenty to do and even managed some conversation when the rain wasn't pounding down on the tin roof.

Most notable was work on the BOM which Lesley Deacon and her team have guided us through. We started this before Christmas and today was a day to lay the blocks out, select a suitable arrangement and start to sew the rows together. There's still a long was to go, including choosing a name, but it's looking very bright and colourful.
Batik fabrics have been used, with leaves and vines applied.

Every week more and more amazing works of art emerge. Here is a quilt featuring New Zealand birds by Anne Finch.

Kaye McNamara made this and it was quilted by Di Hope

Brenda Goggin and her latest quilt.

Marlena Hadley explained how the very dark colour she chose was softened by Shadow Quilting.

The reverse. Beautiful quilting.

And lastly for this week here are the blocks for the Valentine BOM (Block of the Month) kindly arranged by Lesley Deacon. Everyone who makes a block has a chance to win them all. The lucky winner of all our hearts was Jan Eggleton.
