Wednesday 26th March

What a wet day it was today. I wish we could find a way to send some of this rain out West. We have had 70mil (almost 3 inches) so far today and it is still raining.

This was the scene at Bucasia today. Umbrellas and raincoats definitely required.

There were not a lot of us in attendance today, so we only set up a few tables and got cosy.

Lesley took us through the Block of the month, which was a simple design with a very nice result.

Tahdah! Here's one prepared earlier.

Today Dianna was working on another mat, check out the colour coordinated outfit!

Iris bought along some items she has made for the trader table at our quilt expo in July.

Rita showed off a clown doll she has made for her Great Grandson

Elizabeth has made some hair ties for a Grand Daughter who loves Pepper Pig.

Wednesday 19th March 2014

Well another beautiful day in Paradise. Today Lesley told us of her trip to the Stanthorpe "Grape and Apple Festival". Lesley was able to attend a quilt show while there and told us of the quilts on display.

Di showed off her finished quilt.

Kaye McNamara has been very busy. Kaye bought in 3 completed quilts.

Kaye also showed us the quilt that Di Hope has quilted on for her.

Joan has finished her quilt which was started at the Retreat last year. Yes ladies all those roses were hand sewn using the needle turn technique.

Robyn showed us the quilt she has completed for one of her MM's.

Wednesday 12th of March

Once again we had a lovely morning at Bucasia. The Committee meeting was held this week, where we discussed our upcoming Quilt Exhibition which is happening on the 4th and 5th of July. Also discussed was the foundation piecing workshops on the 7th and 8th of July.

Our charity quilt has been quilted and is now ready for the binding. I have taken a closeup of a few of the blocks to show off the lovely stitching.

Cooktown Orchid Badges
Some of you will have made these a few years ago. We decided that we would make them again for our Exhibition. Thanks so much to Robyn Mckenzie who is producing the kits. They will be available over the coming weeks.

Once again we had some lovely items for show and tell. Julie has been busy and showed us  her mat and centre piece.

Barbara has made a gorgeous quilt for Bryce.

Elaine showed off two quilts, the first one has machine embroidered orchid blocks and is quilt as you go.

Elaine's dragon fly quilt is to prove she does make quilts using the traditional techniques.

Faye has made a lovely cushion.

Beth has been busy with her quilt and has bought it to show us how it has turned out.

Joan has also finished her Cobblestone quilt from her workshop last year and bought it along to show us.

Second Saturday of the month Gathering.

On the 8th of March a few Club Members got together at our 2nd Saturday of the month gathering.

We had a visitor from Moranbah this month, Bryony joined us.

Sue having a cuppa and a chat as Di cuts up strips of knit fabric for her mat.

Del disappearing amongst the art work. The area we have to work in is quite roomy and is also air conditioned.

A Pretty Napkin Holder

This pretty Napkin or serviette holder was found by Marilyn Ingham amongst her Mother's possessions.

What a nice idea and such an easy thing to make as a gift or for sale. Thanks for showing it to us Marilyn.

Wednesday 5th March

Another lovely day at Bucasia, we had quite a number of ladies attend the morning session. Everyone enjoyed stitching and chatting with friends.

We had lots of items for show and tell. Anne has made a lovely gift for someone who loves a cup of tea and also loves butterflies.
Anne has been very busy and also made a birth announcement wall hanging.

Beth has proudly shown off her finished quilt which is a gift for her Granddaughter.

Diana has made a woven mat for her Nephew. He chose the red, white and blue for the mat.

Pat 's  Grandson is going to be over the moon with this quilt. This quilt was made for a boy who loves trucks.
Verity was back with us this week after a brief absence. Verity has moved 'out bush' and is hoping to attend our sessions every two weeks. Since moving Verity has been keeping busy by crocheting, knitting and making up hexagons. Something Verity said, she hasn't done in a very long time.
Joan has shown off her finished quilt which has beautiful needle turned accents.

A close up of Joan's needle work.
