Wednesday 5 July 2017

School Holidays put a large dint in our numbers with quite a few of our members away on "Grandma Childminding" duties.
Congratulations to Lyn Lewis, Winner of our raffle quilt "Throughly Modern"  drawn today.  Lyn was very excited about winning. She said when she saw the quilt she just loved it.
AGM nomination forms for committee 2017-18 have been posted on the notice board. Our AGM will be held on the 9th August.

Vera has finished her bargello quilt top she started at Chris Timmins workshop last year, Well done Vera, it looks amazing.

Must have been the day for long term projects to be finished. Elizabeth has completed her Friendship Star quilt she started at last September's Retreat.

Looks like making beads is now Di's new obsession. After seeing a post on my facebook page on hand made beads using fabric, I decided to check out YouTube for inspiration.  (Not a lot of fabric bits at my place hehe!!!)  I happened to come across Boho fabric beads plus Upcycled plastic beads.   Yep, I thought, I can do that. With an unlimited supply of easy obtainable recyclable materials this will be a  great project to take with me on our upcoming RV holiday and won't take up a lot of space. But, of course, testing had to be done. Ta dah!!!
Clockwise from top RH side, Plastic Shopping bag, (Painted after) Onion bags, Plastic bottles and Clear Plastic (painted first before heating to get colour) and fabric covered felt pen pieces.
Centre;- Boho beginnings.
Finished Boho bead key rings and bag tags.
Indian Rope Necklaces trimmed with Boho beads
With plenty of easy obtainable materials I might yet have to find a bigger space in our home away from home!
